The New York Gift Show

Well, Gary is back from the New York Gift Show. It was a slower show this year due to current economic conditions but thankfully it was still fairly successful on our part. Most of the new work got a good reception, especially the new pyramid seder plate matzah combo. Other items are now going into the final revision stages and should be coming out shortly looking better than ever. For all fans of Gary's work, keep an eye out at your favorite Judaica store for the new pieces and if you don't find what you're looking for be sure to tell them that you are interested in seeing Gary's new work! Innovation is the name of the game and this is just the beginning of some exciting new ideas. 2009 is going to be a fun year!

A Plethora of Exciting New Work

Well, Gary left this morning for the New York gift show to debut a very nice selection of beautiful new pieces, but not before each one was photographed by your faithful blogmaster! So here, for your viewing pleasure, are the newest additions to the Gary Rosenthal Collection, never seen before. Keep in mind that since these are brand new, a lot depends on the reception they receive at the gift show this coming week. Some of these may still be tweaked before official release and some may not even make it if they do not recieve much interest. This is your chance to directly influence some new Gary Rosenthal pieces. See a few items here you absolutely love or hate? Maybe one of them needs just a small change and it will be perfect? Leave a comment and let us know!

A Mezuzah for Every Jewish Door in Cuba

An ongoing program started in 2002, Gary has worked with a number of organizations to help provide Judaica to those in Cuba without.

Stan Cohen of the B'nai B'rith Cuban Jewish Relief Project describes his and Gary's involvement:

"As International Chairman of the B’nai B’rith Cuban Jewish Relief Project, it has been a great honor to work with Gary Rosenthal, who is not only the leader in design of Judaica but a true humanitarian.

Attorney Richard Popkin, who has worked with the Jewish Community of Cuba and myself came up with the ambitious idea of seeing that every Jew in Cuba should have a piece of Judaica and a mezuzah for their home.

There are 1500 Jews in Cuba with little or no Jewish relics. We approached Gary Rosenthal with our idea and he said “There is no problem. I will supply you with anything that you need for the Jewish community.”

Gary and others came up with an idea to make the project even more meaningful by enlisting the Jewish Youth Philanthropy to help make the mezuzahs with the materials Gary would supply.

Over 100 sixth and 8th graders would complete these under Gary’s auspices. The rest is history.
The mezuzahs were taken to Cuba and distributed with great love to the families.

We and the Jewish community will forever be grateful to the wonderful tzedaka which was made possible by the Collections of Gary Rosenthal."

Stan is doing great work for the Jewish community of Cuba that extends well beyond Judaica and into community and individual support. We are proud to be a part of his work. If you are interested in a mitzvah project to help the Cuban Jewish community contact bbrelief@earthlink.net.

Happy New Year 2009

Happy New Year from the Gary Rosenthal Collection! We have a lot of exciting plans for 2009 and you know this is where you will find out all about them in the coming months. As the holiday season winds down, we're gearing up, using this slower period to our advantage - rethinking, revamping, and reinventing our pieces, programs, and production in order to bring you the highest quality Judaica we can. We hope this year brings about good things for all!
